In late April, Meta (Facebook) announced upcoming changes to their Shops platform that will affect businesses globally.
From August 10, 2023:
Businesses will no longer be able to host a shop on their Facebook Page or Instagram account unless the shop has Checkout with Facebook or Instagram enabled in the US.
Businesses without an accessible shop will no longer be able to use features associated with Shops, including product tagging (in posts, reels and stories) and creating new custom or lookalike audiences derived from people who visited a shop.
On Instagram, ads with product tags will continue to be available as a solution to enable new and existing customers to discover products at scale through an experience that is independent of Shops. Businesses actively using ads with product tags do not need to take any action and their campaigns will continue uninterrupted.
As the Facebook Plug-in product we offer uses Facebook Shops to display vehicles on your Facebook page, when the above changes come into place, we will no longer be able to display vehicles on your Facebook page.
As such, our Facebook Plug-in will become unusable from August 10th, and we will unfortunately need to discontinue our product from this date.
We don’t expect anything, however we’re unsure if Facebook Page owners will need to remove their Facebook Shop themselves or whether it will be done automatically by Meta. We advise you keep an eye on your Facebook page after August 10 to see the status of your Facebook Shop.
We’ll continue to transmit your vehicles to your Facebook page right up to and including August 10, so you will still be able to display your vehicles up until then.
You will not receive any further billing for this product.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this change may cause you, and we want to assure you that we have explored all possible solutions to allow the Facebook Plug-in product to continue under the upcoming changes. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the changes being made by Meta, there is no way it can remain operable.
If you are interested in advertising your vehicles on the Facebook platform using their paid advertising platform, our AdConnect product offers an easy way to do this.
